The mitigation of the hydrogeological risk of the upstream shoe of some sections of Viale dei Normanni, full -bodied intervention of 5 million euros, made possible thanks to a PNRR loan intercepted by the municipal administration currently in office, are underway. The work affects one of the main routes of access to the city whose road location has widespread depressions and signs of danger that make it risky to travel.
The significant volume of committed resources makes it well the idea of the complexity of an intervention as necessary as expected. In particular, the project provides for the construction of a new wall on large diameter poles, to be built downstream of the existing, together with a bulkhead of important poles and the cortical strengthening of the upstream escarpment. To guarantee these interventions, the roadway will be contextual, in order to also allow the construction of a series of online parking spaces and new sidewalks. The work of hydraulic accommodation of the ditch is also central in order to avoid possible phenomena of flooding or erosion. As part of the works, there is also the construction of a new network of canalizations and wells that can allow a more efficient management of rainwater, thus reducing the risk of instability and floods. A strategic intervention that will improve, overall, the use of the area and circulation, making the crossing for residents easier and safe.
The imminent presence of the construction site has made it necessary to adopt an order of the local police command whose measures will come into force next Monday, April 14, 2025.
From that date and until the end of the works (presumably, March 2026), the measures that reported below will be adopted:
– prohibition of parking both sides with a removal area and the establishment of the alternate one -way, with installation of the traffic light, in viale dei Normanni in the stretch between the intersection with via Nuova and the number 7 (square in front of the floral emporium);
– ban on parking with a removal area for the entire Politeama parking area in Viale dei Normanni.
