The government introduces important innovations for workers: the number of beneficiaries of the benefit is expected to expand Christmas Bonus 2024. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Maurizio Leo declared that the economic contribution, worth 100 euros, will be available to a much wider range of taxpayers, going from just over one million beneficiaries to over four and a half million.

Who will be able to receive the Christmas Bonus?

Under this new measure, it will no longer be necessary to have the dependent spouse to get the Christmas bonus. It will be enough to have at least one fiscally dependent child to access this support, which will be credited during the Christmas holidays, in conjunction with the thirteenth month’s salary, thus helping families to cover seasonal expenses.

Support for consumption and families

“This measure represents a boost for Christmas consumption and support for taxpayers at a time of year when family expenses tend to increase,” explained Deputy Minister Leo. The government’s decision aims to provide economic relief to a greater number of Italian families, at a time when the cost of living is particularly burdensome.

Amendment in the Senate for a further expansion of the bonus

The discussion is currently underway in Senate Committeewhere an amendment could be presented to further extend the range of beneficiaries, making the Christmas Bonus a more inclusive support and also reaching categories of workers who were not initially foreseen by the decree. This initiative is among government actions aimed at supporting workers and their families, in line with other interventions such as reducingIrpef and of tax wedge.
