Harvey Weinstein has a form of bone marrow cancer. According to US media, a month after being indicted for a new series of sexual crimes, the former film producer overwhelmed by #metoo, now 72 years old, he suffers from chronic myeloid leukemia and is undergoing treatment in a New York prison.
The diagnosis comes after a long series of health problems for the once powerful entertainment mogul, who appeared pale and visibly frail during a brief court hearing in September.
He underwent emergency heart surgery last month. Weinstein is serving a 16-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape in California. He was also convicted in New York in 2020 of sexually assaulting an actress and performing forced oral sex on a production assistant.
More than 80 women have accused him of harassment, sexual assault or rapeincluding actresses Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Judd, as well as Italian Asia Argento.
