“I asked, through a Question Time in the Commission addressed to Minister Sangiuliano, at what stage the process was to bring the Civic Library of Cosenza back under the control of the Ministry of Culture as requested by the president of the Board of Directors of the D'Elia institute , in consideration of the serious economic and planning crisis in which it finds itself”.

This was stated by the deputy of the 5 Star Movement Anna Laura Orrico.

“Unfortunately – says Orrico -, the Government's responses, in addition to recalling known circumstances, among other things there was talk of a series of interventions of which I myself was the promoter as Undersecretary for Cultural Heritage, turned out to be generic and, in my opinion, insufficient. Certainly neither incisive nor decisive.

Yet – continues the five-star exponent – the Civica continues to suffer and without the support of the main institutions, starting from the dicastery of Via del Collegio Romano and ending with the Calabria Region and the Province of Cosenza, it becomes really complicated to find a way out to the crisis of the cultural institution.

Those who, however, have never failed to support the Library are the Civica Amica association, to whom, as I mentioned in the Culture Commission, I applaud and thank him since he continues to raise funds and keep attention high on the matter.

We risk – concludes Anna Laura Orrico – that a historic cultural reference point for the South, whose headquarters will also be the subject of the important recovery interventions resulting from the CIS Cosenza, remains an empty treasure chest not usable by citizens”.
