The Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria, second criminal section, has redetermined the penalties in the trial relating to the summary judgment of the “Malea” operation, the anti-mafia investigation which reconstructed – according to the prosecution – the structure of the alleged local ‘ndrangheta of Mammola, active in the control of the territory, in extortion from businesses and in drug trafficking. The Court (president Antonio Scortecci, councilors Teresa Valeria Grieco and Francesco Alligo) reformed the sentence of the Gup of the Court of Reggio Calabria of 29 November 2024, partially accepting the appeals proposed by re-determining the sentences of the defendants Damiano Abbate (14 years and 4 months), Salvatore Nicodemo Abbate (2 years and 8 months), Isidoro Cosimo Callà (7 years and 2 months), Ferdinando Vincenzo Cimino (2 years), Enzo Fabrizio D’Alessandra (2 years), Nicodemo Deciso (7 years and 2 months – requalification of chapter 3 in this case attempted) and Rodolfo Scali (9 years and 10 months – continuation recognized).
