For over sixty years, the protagonist of the Calabrian sports scene, Pino Abate He built a solid and articulated path, starting from his role as a tennis instructor, a discipline that he has always preferred. He led the Coni of Cosenza for more than ten years, later held the position of Vicarus Vicar of the Regional Coni and that of National Councilor. In his long commitment there was no lack of federal positions in the tennis area, representing Italy within the Europe Commission.
He also worked for the Municipality of Cosenza, dedicating himself in particular to the sector of sports facilities. Among its most significant intuitions, the idea of giving life to a center dedicated to Calabrian sport, with museum, library, multimedia room and video library: a project that had the merit of hosting, for the first time in Cosenza, the passage of the Olympic torches. In collaboration with Franca Ferrami And Gianni Collaralso took care of the publication of a volume that traces seventy years of sport history in the Bruzia city.
Today, Abate intends to make available to the Calabrian sports movement all the wealth of experiences, skills and relationships gained over time: it has in fact candidate for the presidency of Coni Calabriain view of the elections scheduled for tomorrow 12 April. A candidacy supported by the territory, wanted by the regional sports world which, recognizing its value, urged its direct commitment.
