«In the Municipality of Reggio and in the Metropolitan City there is a phase of marked political instability, characterized by tensions within the majority and by the hypothesis of a possible early interruption of the current administrative experience a few months after the renewal of the City Council». Thus begins Giuseppe Barbaro of Copagri (Confederation of Agricultural Producers) Calabria, who continues: «This scenario is fueling growing institutional uncertainty which has a significant impact on the economic and productive fabric of the territory. The administrative paralysis that has arisen has a direct impact on the sectors linked to the planning, investments and management of essential services, which represent the operational base for businesses, workers, cooperatives and agricultural companies. The slowdown in procedures, the absence of management actions and the difficulty in guaranteeing continuity in the provision of public services are creating a climate of mistrust, which risks further slowing down activities already exposed to structural criticalities. Not to mention the lack of political impulse on important issues concerning the primary sector, in particular: the crisis in the Reggio olive sector, the designation of bergamot as a quality brand, the wild boar problem and related damage compensation, road conditions, management of rivers and hydrogeological instability”.
