The thirty-four-year-old from Alessano who was driving the Maserati which collided with the Renault Scenic driven by Professor Giuseppe Turano, the forty-seven-year-old mathematics teacher originally from the Corigliano hinterland who lost his life in the terrible road accident last Friday, is under investigation for the crime of aggravated road homicide. The fatal accident occurred along State Road 275 at the Alessano exit in the province of Lecce. The state road 275 Maglie-Leuca is one of the most dangerous roads in Puglia. In fact, the road is sadly known in the news for the numerous road accidents, often fatal, that have occurred in recent years. According to the reconstruction made by the investigators, the Calabrian professor was returning home to his family after having bought some pizzas for dinner. After routine tests it emerged that the thirty-four-year-old behind the wheel of the Maserati would have been driving after drinking as he tested positive for alcohol.
