A useless Commission. Thus the municipal councilor Pasqualina Strafacedefines theestablishment of the temporary commission on the establishment of the Province of Sibaritide (approved together with the always temporary one on the new court) “because they are destined to produce only hot air on issues whose competence belongs entirely to other institutions”. A situation considered surreal because “the fact that the same Municipal Administration and the same majority that through the mouth of its Mayor say they are ecstatic about the establishment of two commissions on the new Court and the new Province, but cannot find any words to explain the obstinacy in the refusal of our proposal to establish a permanent council commission of supervision”. For Straface, therefore, on the one hand they are exalted for the promotion of “idle chatter on issues on which decisions will eventually be taken elsewhere, in perfect autonomy with respect to the magnitude of local debates, on the other, they are afraid, there are no other explanations, of allowing the councilors to read the acts and documents immediately”.
Therefore, the position does not seem to have changed with respect to what was approved with only the votes of the majority in the city council on the indicated issues. Meanwhile, from the ranks of the majority councilors, social replies have arrived to the statements of the deputy group leader of FdI in the Chamber, Alfredo Antoniozzi, who does not share the idea of a province of Sibaritide. “Who is afraid of the Province of Corigliano-Rossano?” This is the question posed by the Green Party councilor Giovanni Battista Leonetti who adds: «Why in the Sibaritide must every right be experienced as a privilege or, worse, a favor? Why don’t we have the ability to claim the legitimate political and administrative expectations of one of the richest territories in the whole of Calabria?». Leonetti, therefore, relaunches the idea: «I hope that this claim does not turn into a battle, however if this were to happen, do not fear: we are ready to fight».
