The Court of Cosenza has acquitted a doctor and three healthcare workers investigated for the death of Salvatore Iaccino. The historic Cosenza Calcio ultra was found lifeless on 17 February 2025 while he was hospitalized in a clinic for psychiatric patients in Mendicino, in the province of Cosenza.

The family wanted to ascertain the causes of death and the Cosenza Prosecutor’s Office had opened an investigation: four people had ended up on the register of suspects. The doctor and three social and healthcare workers were accused of complicity in murder and negligent injury. The suspects were defended by lawyers Innocenzo Palazzo and Carlo Monaco. Iaccino’s family members were represented by lawyers Maurizio Nucci, Mattia Caruso, Cristian Cristiano and Angelo Nicotera.
