The new circle of the Urban Area of Italian Left places its first stone in the garden where others are already working on the construction of the Unique cityan ambitious project, destined to change the history of this land with an ancient heart. The spokesperson explains it well, Antonio Curcioillustrating the project of the Italian Left which considered «the issue of the merger too important to address and we cannot fall into old logics of barricading ourselves with the sole purpose of sanctioning new or old potentates». A declaration that opens a gap on the left where the most tenacious opposition is gathered.
Curcio opens up to the idea of a single city sewn along the course of the Campagnano. «Sinistra Italiana does not reject the challenge for a single city a priori, rather it believes that a path towards the definition of a vast area is necessary. It is also believed that this is a process to be verified during the work and that it must contain within itself some essential principles for the definition of which we have set up a special study group. We are also available to evaluate the critical positions, directed towards the construction of a polycentric city, to be postponed to a possible subsequent process of enlargement of the urban area».
Emotions and feelings take a step back in the programs of the Italian Left compared to the analysis and more mature reflection protected from exclusively ideological contamination. “We are running for governance of the territory in whatever form it may manifest itself in the future, because we have a clear vision of a city that can be inclusive, open, sustainable and that promotes the active participation of citizens. We are convinced that we cannot fossilize on pro and con positions with the aim of building political visibility or strange alliances for future electoral competitions”.
