More and more queen of Calabrian athletics. A packed conference room, lots of participation and a climate of widespread enthusiasm: this is how Cosenza K42 officially inaugurated the 2026 competitive season by presenting athletes, programs and objectives during the meeting held on Saturday at the school field in via degli Stadi.

The presentation evening

While President Antonio Cosma was absent due to personal commitments, the honors were hosted by deputy vice-president Daniele Percacciulo together with technical manager Maurizio Leone, former Italian cross champion and precious element of the national Fidal, former president Giovanni Mondera, an authentic pillar of K42, and historic manager Ciccio Misasi, who illustrated the main regulatory innovations and the competition calendar.

An evening lived in the name of participation, with athletes of all categories present and numerous new members ready to start the adventure in the K42 jersey.

The new grafts

Among the first to speak was Alessandro Tortorella, Master category, ophthalmologist and already a top-level athlete as a young man, still the holder of a regional record. In the family the passion continues with his son Ludovico, a promising athlete in the boys category.

Then there is room for Giuseppe Filice (M40), followed by Nicola Mazara, who arrived permanently from the Sicilia Running Team after last season’s loan.

Among the new faces also Emanuele Bennici, born in 2006, coming from Cus Palermo. The young middle-distance runner, son of Francesco Bennici – Italian in the 10,000 meters at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics – will now try his hand at the 400 and 800 meter distances.

Also presented was Fabrizio Meoli, an athlete from Benevento from International Security of Nola, former Italian M40 marathon champion, with recent notable performances over the distances of 5000, 10 km and half marathon.

The star from Kenya

Ademe Cuneo, born in 1998, from Atletica Casone Noceto and former Under 20 national team, spoke via video link from Kenya, where he is training. His best results include 14’12” in the 5000 metres, 29’27” in the 10000 meters and 1h03′ in the half marathon.

The fidelity plates

At the end, Ciccio Misasi presented the 2025 fidelity plaques to the two athletes most present in the competition last season: Nuccia Fondacaro, with 18 participations, and Noemi Baldino, with 16 races played.

A symbolic recognition that closed an evening full of enthusiasm and expectations for a season that promises to be full of events and ambitions.
