«The socio-demographic panorama of the Province of Cosenza, in line with the regional trend, appears to be characterized by a natural trend with a constant negative balance». There are fewer and fewer of us, unfortunately. And, what’s more, increasingly older. It was created by the INPS and underlines how from 2013 to 2023 the natural balance not only constantly shows the minus sign, but has more than doubled over the years, going from -1,112 in 2013 (5,818 births compared to 6,930 deaths) to -3,582 in 2023 (4,564 births and 8,146 deaths). If the analysis moves to a percentage level, it emerges that the natural balance impacts the population by -0.5%.

When the spotlight shifts to work, the survey tells how «in the Province of Cosenza in 2024 a positive net employment balance is observed, due to a greater number of hirings than terminations. Compared to the previous year, there is a reduction in permanent hiring for Italians and an increase in fixed-term hiring. For foreigners, there is an increase in both permanent and fixed-term hiring. In the Province of Cosenza the inactivity rate is increasing”, explain the INPS.
