Vincenzo Capomolla will be the next Public Prosecutor. The Fifth Commission of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, retracing its steps, unanimously designated him, excluding from the race the other aspirant, the deputy general prosecutor of Reggio Calabria, Vincenzo Luberto.
Capomolla is a highly experienced magistrate and, in the last year, she has led with competence and a confident attitude, the anti-mafia district prosecutor’s office of Catanzaro which was left orphaned by Nicola Gratteri destined for Naples.
Originally from Monterosso Calabria, the next Bruzio prosecutor (the plenum assembly vote is now awaited) has signed dozens of investigations in recent years which have affected the Cosentino, the Upper Tyrrhenian, the Paolano and the Sibaritide. A refined jurist, a man of culture, shy and determined, Vincenzo Capomolla was also involved in investigations regarding the mafia wars in the Soverato area and the ‘Ndrangheta plots in the area of the regional capital and the Lametino area.
When the DDA was coordinated by Gratteri, he held the position of “vicar”. With a profound knowledge of Calabria having worked there for a long time in different areas, the prosecutor assigned to Cosenza is also among the signatories of the “Reset” maxinvestigation, the most impressive anti-mafia operation conducted on the northern side of the region in the last fifteen years. The Fifth Commission of the CSM decided to vote for it in unison, overturning the previous resolution. Capomolla takes over from Mario Spagnuolo who retired a few months ago.
