Cosenza, other points to find serenity

The draw with Parma did not satisfy Cosenza’s hunger for points. To spend a peaceful Christmas, the rossoblù must also move up the rankings in the “San Nicola” match against Bari.
Circumstances require the Sila rossoblù not to set any limits at this stage of the championship. The distance from the fifth to last place, in fact, does not leave us completely calm also because the calendar remains difficult at this stage.
The Caserta group will face the red and whites and then Como, Cremonese, Venice, Sudtirol, Pisa and Modena until February 10th. The next seven days will lead to taking stock. Against the Ducals, meanwhile, the Sila team equaled the best score recorded since their return to Serie B. The Bruzia team achieved 20 points in the 2019-2020 season. Now he has another 180′ available to improve his numbers.
However, we will only think about one opponent at a time. The focus is now on the Bari players, however, the Santo Stefano match against the Como team remains in the background, with which they will reach the end of the first round and the winter break.
Bari is only one point away and in the last five they have had a performance in line with that of the Sila: only 4 points won following a win, a draw and three defeats. The Apulian team has not yet managed to take off. So far they have only won 4 matches (only Reggiana, Spezia, three times, and Feralpisalò, two have won fewer), one less than the rossoblù, but above all they have drawn more than anyone else (on nine occasions).
Eighth place, the minimum threshold for reaching the playoffs, the objective declared by the club, is six points away. At the “San Nicola” so far, however, only Venezia has prevailed (0-3) on the occasion of the penultimate home match. For the rest, the red and whites achieved two successes (Ascoli and Sudtirol) and five draws (Palermo, Cittadella, Catanzaro, Como and Modena).
With Pasquale Marino on the bench, the numbers improved slightly (1.38 points on average per game) compared to the Mignani era (1.11) but they did not appear convincing enough to really change gear. The disappointment of the results below expectations, in addition to that of an inferior staff compared to the one that stopped centimeters away from Serie A in the previous course, has created a climate of strong protest towards the De Laurentiis family’s company.
The defeat suffered in La Spezia last Friday further increased the pressure on Di Cesare and his teammates. Cosenza will have to try to take advantage of the situation (something they failed to do in Genoa against Sampdoria last October 22nd), breaking the away taboo that has persisted for almost three months now. Even from the scoring point of view, the numbers of the two teams are equivalent. Both have conceded 19 goals so far, but the Sila team have one more goal to their credit (18 against 17).
Training resumed During yesterday afternoon’s training session, Canotto carried out differentiated work. The Rossonese footballer has started running again on the sidelines of the “Delmorgine” and is progressing in his recovery process following the flexor strain suffered in the first half of the match against Ternana. More therapies instead for Marras who could therefore have ended his 2023 season early. Today, in the meantime, D’Orazio and his associates will carry out a double session.
