The social regeneration process started by the Municipality of Cosenza in the popular neighborhoods continues. This morning Mayor Franz Caruso carried out an inspection of the former headquarters of the district, where the Senior Center and the Playroom are currently located, structures that require redevelopment and reorganization of the spaces.

“After the urban regeneration of Serra Spiga and San Vito, we are also concretely launching the social one, so that the community becomes increasingly inclusive and cohesive”. This was stated by the mayor Franz Caruso during an inspection of the area, in which the councilors for Welfare, Veronica Buffone, for Maintenance, Francesco De Cicco, the city councilor Francesco Turco and the sector manager, Giuseppe Bruno also participated. During the visit, the mayor spoke at length with some elderly people of the neighborhood.

«In parallel with the urban regeneration project that affects this area, including San Vito and Via degli Stadi, and which we are carrying out with an investment of over 15 million euros – added Franz Caruso – we are implementing actions aimed at supporting those who live in difficult situations, making meeting spaces and play structures fully usable for adults and children. The objective is to create a hub dedicated to social services, capable of promoting a network of solidarity and community. A journey that has already begun with the inauguration of the Serra Spiga oratory, housed in the premises of the school in via Saverio Albo granted to the Parish. Now we will continue with the Seniors Center and the Playroom, which are located in the building of the old district, formerly the headquarters of the CSV, and which requires important interventions to adapt and reorganize the spaces”.

«In addition to urban recovery – concluded Mayor Franz Caruso – we consider the social revitalization of these neighborhoods as a priority, in which pockets of hardship persist to which we must give concrete answers. I have always been convinced that the rebirth of the suburbs comes from the ability to combine material and immaterial development: and this is exactly what my Administration is doing.”
