The closure of the relationship between Salvatore Gualtieri and Cosenza Calcio can be read in a press release from the association Cosenza in the heart – Supporter Trust, it is not an isolated episode, but represents, “the drop that breaks an already full vase”. The professional’s farewell marks a profound breaking point within a corporate management now considered unsustainable.

According to the association, Gualtieri would have embodied one of the last attempts to maintain a link between the team and the fans, in a context in which the distance between club and public has become increasingly marked. His exit is defined as yet another consequence of an administrative management which, the fans underline, “has nothing to do with the good governance of a professional football club”.

The document highlights how, despite the declared aversion towards the current ownership, part of the supporters had perceived signs of a possible normalisation. A prospect which, with the interruption of the relationship with Gualtieri, would have definitively faded, returning the environment to a phase of strong instability and mistrust.

The statement then broadens its focus to the role of politics. «An entire population is wondering where the real politics is», we read again, denouncing the absence of interventions to protect a social phenomenon considered central for the city. The association speaks of a community deprived of a space for aggregation and identity, without there having been a clear stance taken by the institutions.

For the Supporter Trust, football cannot be considered a marginal issue, but a fundamental element of the city’s social life. Hence the final appeal to the fans: do not forget what is happening, transform discontent into participation and assert your democratic weight, also in view of the 2027 municipal elections. “When it is enough, it is too much”, concludes the statement, inviting the community to find unity and voice again.
