After welcome to the freshmen, the new teaching classrooms made within the same monumental complex were inaugurated: in addition to the 120 -seater classroom already active, the pole is enriched with two new classrooms of 184 seats each, one 95 -seater classroom and another of 78, as well as spaces dedicated to workshops, catering and services. A modern and functional equipment that makes the Polo delle Polo of Unical Health Professions capable of hosting a student community in optimal conditions in continuous growth. Thanks to the arrival of the new 180 nursing freshmen, who complete the three -year period, and with the activation of the degree course in physiotherapy, for the new academic year, the unique members who study in San Domenico climb to 500. In two years, when the courses will be fully operational, they will become about 800 students who will attend the historic center of Cosenza daily, helping to animate it and, in part, live it.

“You have to be proud – said the mayor Franz Caruso in formulating the good wishes for a happy academic year to the freshmen – to be able to live this experience in the city of Bernardino Telesio. The synergistic relationship with the university – added Franz Caruso – will have to continue with the next rector, involving, as in this case, the other institutions of the territory.

So Franz Caruso told how it came to the realization of the project. “This choice – he explained – was born from the encounter with the magnificent rector, Nicola Leone, in our historic center, when in the Santa Lucia district we inaugurated Palazzo Spadafora, another of the most significant ancient buildings in our city, so that it became the headquarters of the Open Incubator Project of the Unical. And he told me about an experience in Perugia and I replied that he could probably be relived in Cosenza. coming here in the San Domenico complex.

Finally, the first citizen also spoke of the possibility of allocating Palazzo Ferrari university residences to avoid commuting and make the city live directly and fully the city and through them to revive the wonderful historic center of Cosenza.
