On January 3, it arrested a fifty-nine-year-old man on charges of domestic abuse and personal injury to his spouse.
In particular, following a report of an assault against a woman by her husband, received on the Single Emergency Number, a Flying Squad crew went to the historic center of the city. On site, the police officers tracked down the applicant for the intervention who, in a clear state of agitation and with clear signs of beatings on her face and body, reported that her partner, in an evident state of alcoholic intoxication, had shown up in the bedroom, where she sleeps alone, with the clear intent of demanding non-consensual sexual intercourse.
After a brief and heated discussion, the husband, annoyed by the refusal received, grabbed his wife by the hair, making her fall to the ground and then struck her with kicks and punches all over her body until she was able to free herself and ask for the intervention of the police. Due to the beatings she suffered, the woman was helped by the 118 operators and was transported to the local emergency room where, at the end of the health checks, she was discharged with a 30-day prognosis for the injuries found, with the necessary and further prescription of a specialized psychological evaluation deemed necessary to overcome the psychological stress disorder suffered.
At the end of the activity, the person responsible for the facts described was arrested in flagrante delicto as he was held responsible for the crimes of family abuse and personal injury and, upon order of the Public Prosecutor on duty at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cosenza, translated to the local prison. Following a validation hearing and warrant interrogation, the trial judge validated the arrest by ordering the precautionary measure of the house arrest with the application of the electronic bracelet.
