Cosenza is preparing to host a sporting event of international importance: on Saturday 1 November, at the “Macrì” sports facility in Via degli Stadi, the match between the Under 18 national rugby teams of Italy and Ireland will be played. An important opportunity not only for oval ball enthusiasts, but for the entire city and the South, who will be able to experience a challenge of great technical and educational value up close.

The announcement was made by Mayor Franz Caruso, who underlines the importance of the initiative for the promotion of sport and the values ​​that rugby embodies: “It is a prestigious event – he states – which represents a great opportunity to promote a discipline based on fundamental values ​​such as courage, team spirit, a sense of responsibility and commitment”.

The mayor also highlights the symbolic meaning of the choice of the neighborhood that will host the meeting: “It is a source of pride – he declares – to welcome this event in a popular area that was neglected until yesterday, which today we are redeveloping and reinserting into the urban fabric. An event of this magnitude will contribute to giving visibility to the entire city area, attracting fans and enthusiasts even from outside the region”.

Franz Caruso concludes by thanking the Italian Rugby Federation for proposing Cosenza as the venue for the match, receiving the green light from the Irish counterpart: “A recognition to our city – he underlines – which demonstrates how international sporting events can also be hosted in the South”.
