Access to credit increasingly difficult for small businesses. From 2011 to today, financing dedicated to companies with fewer than five employees has reduced by a third, weighing on investments and consequently on micro and macro economic growth.
Cna Calabria, which has long been engaged in battles to facilitate access to credit, joins the campaign launched at a national level by the Artisans Confederation, opening an Artigiancredito branch in all the Calabrian provinces which, thanks to the agreement with the Confidi, will be able to provide credit up to 80 thousand euros.
Confidi are bodies set up by trade associations such as Cna which, in addition to guaranteeing credit, directly provide financing to associated companies, manage regional funds and facilitate access to the Guarantee Fund for SMEs.
“We are proud to bring the campaign to Calabria – states the president of Cna Calabria Giovanni Cugliari -. Our territory needs investments and liquidity to grow and since it is mostly made up of micro businesses, entrepreneurs need to draw on small sums. Figures that are unattractive for banks and which, therefore, they do not pay. Furthermore, the growing concentration of the banking sector has led large institutions to distance themselves from the territories, where small businesses in particular are present. If we take into account the fact that the assessment of creditworthiness based on quantitative criteria can penalize micro and small businesses, it is easy to understand how complicated all this is for a craftsman”.
Hence the collaboration with Confidi which provide public subsidies to encourage investments and represent a solid support network for small businesses. Some Confidi are among the main financial intermediaries in the country: in addition to guaranteeing credit, they directly provide financing to associated companies, manage regional funds and facilitate access to the Guarantee Fund for SMEs.
