Yesterday in Catanzaro at the headquarters of the Casa della Bilateralità Artigiana, the social partners started the new training course for the Rlst (Territorial Security Workers’ Representatives). The course includes 64 hours of training and involves around 20 participants from all the Calabrian provinces.

In the coming months, the trained trade union operators will visit the companies adhering to the Artisan Bilaterality system, a pool of around 5 thousand companies spread across the entire regional territory, which boasts over 10 thousand employees.

The president of Opra Calabria Michele Gigliotti was satisfied with the initiative and in his opening speech of the course underlined the importance of visits to companies and meetings with professionals, projects that the Joint Crafts Organization has been carrying out in the area for several years, enjoying considerable interest and success.

Francesco Pellegrini, president of Ebac Calabria, not only expressed his concerns about the accidents that unfortunately continue to occur on construction sites but also invited the Rlsts to spread the culture of prevention during access, making owners understand that safety is not a burden but an added value for the company. Profit cannot, under any circumstances, be placed before human life. Pellegrini himself, a well-known entrepreneur from the Crotone area, explained that in his businesses, he expects his collaborators to attend the courses with the right attention they deserve because the protection of human life must be at the center of every daily action.

Benedetto Cassala, vice president of the Ente Bilaterale Artigiano, also underlined that company access is important to support businesses and workers and should not be confused with inspection access. Companies and their employees must be aware that Rlst are a support tool in the company accident prevention plan and that in many cases where accidents have occurred, preventive consultation with the workers’ safety representative could have avoided them. Based on this shared vision, employers’ associations and trade union organizations will soon commit resources to implement a regional awareness campaign.
