The inspection activities of the Environmental Police Operational Unit of the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotone, aimed – as they fall within the institutional tasks of the body – to the prevention and contrast of the illicit environmental, have made it possible to identify a landfill of waste, of medium -sized waste in the crap of the municipality of Crotone in the Crotone municipality of Crotone.
On the area in question, which extends over an area of about 4000 (four thousand) square meters, a landfill of waste of various types and nature (not dangerous, dangerous and special) was found, limited to those visible on the surface, in about 6500 cubic meters consistent in brick, construction waste, WEEE, pieces of car, tires, ferrous waste and even asbestos plates.
The operating soldiers were able to ascertain the immediacy that, within this extensive area, a substantial filling of the soil had also been carried out – of variable height between 1 meter and 3 meters compared to the bottom of the land itself – by deposit of significant quantities of waste of building material.
The entire area, after informing the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Crotone, was entirely seized from the same judicial authority.
The responsible person was referred to the aforementioned judicial authority for various hypotheses of crime such as the realization and management of unauthorized landfill and the illegal management of waste.
The area was entrusted, in custody, to the environment office of the Municipality of Crotone.
These activities conducted by the Coast Guard of Crotone are also included among those priority addresses indicated by the Public Prosecutor of Crotone aimed at the protection of the environment, the territory and the consequent contrast of illegal activities capable of causing harm to the environment.
