A vast area of approximately 10,800 square meters was seized by the Crotone Coast Guard in the Passovecchio area, as part of checks against environmental crimes.
During the inspection of a commercial business for the rental and sale of crane trucks, the military discovered an unauthorized landfill with approximately 5,000 cubic meters of abandoned waste, including tyres, iron and aluminum scrap, plastics, end-of-life boats and cars, construction materials and tanks.
It was also established that there was no authorization to discharge the waste water, which ended up in a nearby ditch without treatment.
The entire area was seized and two people were reported for environmental crimes. The investigations continue under the coordination of the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office, directed by the prosecutor Domenico Guarascio.
