Crotone, bathing establishments without equipment and lacking of assistance and rescue staff: shores sanctioned by the Port Authority

As part of the operation “Safe Sea and Lakes 2025”arranged by the general command of the body of the Port Authorities – Coast Guard throughout the national territory in the period between 16 June and 21 September in order to guarantee safety, protection of the environment and legality along the coasts and lakes, were prepared by Porto di Croton Harbor Master’s Officeand dedicated checks both at sea and on the coasts of competence.
In the stretch of coast of jurisdiction of the Port Authority of Crotone, which extends from the municipality of Crucoli included to the municipality of Sellia Marina included, the military of the Coast Guard have subjected to verification of numerous tourist facilities and bathing establishments.

In addition to the checks carried out on the possession of the necessary concession securities issued to the owners of the structures, the actual dimensions of the maritime state -owned areas occupied by the bathing establishments have been verified; possession of safety equipment; and compliance with all the other prescriptions contained in the seaside safety order nr. 28/2025 of 22 April 2025 issued by the Port Authority of Crotone.
The checks performed made it possible to ascertain different shortcomings in 6 (six) seaside structures inspected that they have determined, overall, the imposition of over 6,000 (six thousand) euros of administrative sanctions against the managers.
In fact, in the controlled bathing structures (two in Le Castella in the municipality of Isola Capo Rizzuto, two in Sellia Marina, one in Cropani and one in Botricello), despite the presence of patrons who used the services on the beach, was ascertained – in four plants – the absence of the staff responsible for the assistance and rescue service and, in two other, the deficiency in the equipment and in the safety of safety, regulated by the current order of safety order bathing.
Following the intervention of the military, the managers of the bathing establishments promptly restored the safety conditions by reactivating the assistance and rescue service or by integrating the missing equipment and performances.
Finally, in the municipality of Melissa, fish products have been seized in a restaurant, without the necessary documentation that ensured its planned traceability. An administrative penalty of € 1,500 (one thousand five hundred) and the fish product seized, for a total of 6.5 kilograms, was subsequently destroyed, has been raised to the owner of the activity.
