A long round of applause and the roar of the engines accompanied the final farewell to Giovanni Grande, the twenty-year-old who died on Saturday afternoon in an accident on the Statale 106 Jonica, while he was riding his motorbike.

In front of the church of San Giuseppe Artigiano, in Crotone, hundreds of people gathered around his parents, Francesca and Giuseppe, his sisters and his girlfriend. During the funeral, celebrated by Don Massimo Buscema, the older sister recalled with moving words the deep bond with Giovanni, “a special brother” who passed away too soon.

At the exit of the coffin, the young man’s helmet carried by his brother-in-law and the homage of his motorcyclist friends, who escorted him to the cemetery. “You will be twenty years old forever,” the aunt wrote on social media, summing up the pain of an entire community.
