For the third consecutive year, the theatrical solidarity activity of the Crotone journalists materializes, as this morning they delivered to the National Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (Anpvi) a special tandem purchased with part of the proceeds from the comedies staged in the summer of 2025.

This is a tandem made specifically for people with disabilities by a craftsman from Agar Bike in Prato. The vehicle, made of steel, is equipped with a double transmission that allows the pedaling to be differentiated, allowing the passenger to stop for a few seconds without blocking that of the rider.

Donation and inclusion projects

In addition to the tandem, the total donation of approximately 3,400 euros also includes the creation of a braille bas-relief which will be placed in the archaeological park of Capocolonna, to allow blind people to learn about the history of the site.

«We thank the journalists who gave us the dream of being able to be equal to others and of having a tool to be inclusive at a cycling level», declared Antonio Scalise, commissioner of the Anpvi of Crotone. “From now on, any person with a disability, together with a relative or friend, will be able to realize their own cycling freedom.”

The role of the community and institutions

Scalise underlined how the initiative is part of a broader path of attention to inclusion: «The first inclusive project began in Mesoraca as a pilot city, while in Crotone there are active technical tables for the removal of architectural barriers and the creation of sensory paths. A city without barriers is a more beautiful city.”

The delivery and use of the tandem

The delivery of the tandem took place at the headquarters of the Park’r’Ride – Bike Sharing association in Crotone, where the vehicle will be made available free of charge to Anpvi members. The tandem can also be rented and the proceeds will be allocated to the institutional activities of the association.

Michele De Luca, a craftsman from Agar Bike in Prato, specialized in making tandems for people with disabilities, also participated in the ceremony: «The world of disability teaches that we need others. In tandem we understand that we all need each other. Cycling together creates a different harmony between people.”
