The ancient rite of blessing the seeds of the products of the land and of the farmers was renewed again this morning in Piazza Duomo on the occasion of the solemn celebrations in honor of the patron saint of Crotone San Dionigi, the Aeropagita.
An evocative ceremony with Archbishop Alberto Torriani who came down from the churchyard of the Cathedral (closed for two years for restoration work) and crossed the square giving his blessing to the agricultural vehicles and farmers who were waiting. The rite was attended by the civil and military authorities with the mayor of Crotone Vincenzo Voce and the vice president of the Province Fabio Manica.
Clergy, faithful and authorities led by Archbishop Torriani who had at his side Monsignor Hryhoriy Komar, exarch for Italy of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, reached the nearby church of the Immaculate Conception which also this year hosted the Solemn Mass for Saint Dionigi who is co-patron of the city together with the Madonna of Capocolonna. Torriani pronounced a Pontifical in which among other things he underlines that the city >.
“The city grows – Monsignor Torriani then underlined in another passage of the Pontifical – if everyone gives up their own interests a little for the good of all”.
