«I asked for a few days of reflection. We are only at two days of reflection, this is still too short a period to make a decision on such an important thing, and therefore I still reserve the right not to answer this question, but the commitment, in any case, in Calabria as it is precisely required by these first hours after the vote is taken for granted for me”.

Thus the M5S MEP Pasquale Tridico, defeated candidate of the progressive camp for the presidency of the Calabria Region, before the start of the meeting of the elected regional councilors of the centre-left underway in Lamezia Terme. Tridico spoke about the organization of the opposition, not hiding his disappointment with the outcome of the elections. «We need to reorganize the opposition – he said – we need to start again. The defeat, as has already been said, is unfortunately bitter. But there was a great commitment on everyone’s part to try to create a dream, an alternative, a hope. The timing of this campaign was very short and this had an impact as well as the rate of participation in the vote. Even if a discussion needs to be made on the need to extend voting to non-residents too, as is done with Aire members to allow them to vote.”

In addition to Pasquale Tridico, all elected councilors from the centre-left-broad camp are present at the meeting: for the Democratic Party Rosellina Madeo, Ernesto Alecci, Giuseppe Ranuccio and Giuseppe Falcomatà; for the Tridico list President Ferdinando Laghi and Vincenzo Bruno; for the 5 Star Movement Elisa Scutellà; for the Progressive Democrats Francesco De Cicco and for the Reformist House Filomena Greco.
