On the occasion of the Epiphany holiday, the Police Commissioner of Crotone, Renato Panvino, coordinated a vast control service of the territory which saw the coordinated use of various units of the Police Headquarters, including Flying Squad, Digos, Traffic Police and Anti-Crime Division. The operation focused in particular on the surveillance of 35 subjects subjected to measures restricting personal freedomincluding individuals under house arrest for mafia-type and drug-related crimes, as well as special supervised residents in the capital.
The overall activity produced the following results:
- Identifications: 559 people identified, of which 113 were found to have precedents in the database.
- Road checks: 252 vehicles checked, with 5 fines for violations of the highway code and the administrative detention of 4 vehicles.
- Judicial measures: A person was reported to the judicial authorities for an attempted theft of food in a suburban business.
- Countering narcotics: A person was reported to the Prefect for possession of drugs for personal use.
The widespread use of the forces in the field also affected the main road arteries and the areas surrounding the railway station, where the Railway Police identified 84 people. At the same time, the Flying Squad carried out local searches and targeted checks on subjects already known to the police.
