A large fire broke out around 6.00 pm on the southern outskirts of the Torretta di Crucoli hamlet, in the Crotone area, on the Mediterranean scrub hills overlooking the “106” state road. Having started within the Mediterranean forest, made up of shrubs and plants that reach up to 4 meters in height, the fire, aided by the north wind, which burned throughout the day, causing temperatures to drop significantly, pushed further and further towards the interior, passing by some houses and the road used for the nature trail that leads, from the hamlet, to the Gatta a Crucoli forest. The Carabinieri and firefighters of Cirò Marina intervened on site. The fire brigade team used, among other vehicles, the tanker to contain the flames and prevent them from descending towards the state road.
