The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with the Pedemontana Cycle Route wins the ninth edition of the Green Road Award, the Italian Oscar of Cycle Tourismthe prize that is awarded every year to the green cycle routes of the Regions that promote holidays on two wheels with services aimed at slow tourism. The second prize goes to the Calabria Region for the Val di Neto cycle/pedestrian path, while the Autonomous Province of Trento comes in third place with the Green Road dei Fiori. Special mention from the Jury for Appennino Bike Tour, presented by the Liguria Region, while the Legambiente Mention rewards the Sardinia Region, with its first victory, for the Santa Barbara Mining Route. Finally, the Special Press Mention goes to Campania for La Via Silente. The Green Road Award jury selected the winners among the 25 proposals submitted by regions, territories and autonomous provinces. The prizes are awarded to cycle routes that demonstrate they possess criteria of excellence and the highest score according to the various parameters examined, including design, construction, promotion, equipment, signage, green services and more. The proclamation today 1 June in Lucca, protagonist with Viareggio of the awards event in the Tuscany Region, winner of last year's first prize for the Puccini Cycle Walk. Now in its ninth edition, the Italian cycle tourism Oscar has the dual objective of stimulating administrations to enhance their excellent routes and promoting investments in cycle tourism.
