Elected in 2019 and reconfirmed for the next five years at the helm of the Federalberghi Calabria, Fabrizio D’Agostino Trace a balance of the mandate just ended, looking at future challenges.
His first election took place in difficult years. Did Calabria come out of this tunnel?
«In 2019, our region had touched a historical record, that of 9 and a half million tourists, 3 and a half million of which foreigners. Then, Covid arrived who halved the appearances and forced the entire sector to reinvent himself, so as not to succumb to the disastrous consequences of the pandemic. We started with force in 2023, reaching 8 and a half million tourists last year. We have put in place a constant concert table with the Region to make contributions and concessions, with the main objective of improving the quality of tourist services and, therefore, also the quality of the accommodation facilities. We have also obtained several financing calls, one of which was published two months ago and is underway. Applications for Calabrian hoteliers have arrived for new initiatives and for renovations of existing hotels for 400 million euros. A great success ».
