The leader of the South calls the North, Cateno De Luca, relaunches the theme of a special law for Messina, necessary in view of the major works underway, starting with the Bridge over the Strait: “We have already launched a strategy and an electoral organisation. It is clear that, at a regional and national level, there may be dynamics that also lead Messina to bring forward the special law. We need a ten-year law, consistent with the timetable of the Bridge, and a plan worth over a billion of euros that is not limited to road traffic alone. We need to think about disability, the costs of living and the protection of those who will suffer expropriations: no one must be uprooted from their neighborhood and their history.” Thus Cateno De Luca on the occasion of a press conference convened in the oval room of Palazzo Zanca, entitled “The path to Messina 2027-2032 begins”.

On the relationship with the centre-right and on the Bridge over the Strait project, the leader of the South calls North, Cateno De Luca, is clear: “I hope that the centre-right will be able to find balance, but we cannot think of governing Messina only with the logic of the Bridge. Those who administer know what it means to live with construction sites of this size: we must first resolve the structural issues, such as the water supply and the urban development of the northern area. Only in this way can the Bridge be an opportunity and not a problem.”
