The high cost of fuel has also become a national emergency for the fishing sector, with an average increase of 33% and a further surge of 3% recorded in just forty-eight hours. The average price of diesel jumped from 0.72 to 0.96 euros per litre, eroding the already fragile margins of fishing companies. It is the analysis of Confcooperative Fedagripesca for ANSA that takes a constantly evolving photograph.
The Northern Adriatic and Tuscany lead the ranking of the heaviest price increases. In Caorle, in Veneto, the maximum peak was recorded among the monitored ports with 1.05 euros per liter (+41.89%), followed by Livorno, where diesel fuel soared to 1.10 euros (+37.5%). The situation is also critical in Lazio, with Anzio recording a +28.38% (0.95 euros), and in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where in Marano Lagunare the price is close to the euro. In Sicily, the increase is widespread: if in Porticello it reaches 1.10 euros, in Lampedusa it reaches the record figure of 1.33 euros per litre. Even the other Sicilian marinas, from Trapani to Milazzo, fluctuate between 0.90 and 0.93 euros, while Mazara del Vallo stands at 0.82 euros. Things are no better in Sardinia, where the cost of refueling reaches up to 1.15 euros in Calasetta. Along the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian coast, prices remain above the warning threshold: in Emilia-Romagna they range between 0.78 and 0.82 euros, in Molise (Termoli) around 0.80 euros and in Liguria (Santa Margherita Ligure) at 0.92 euros.
