Delays and short circuits, in Calabria the Pnrr “disappoints”

Less than a year and a half before the deadline, the Calabrian Pnrr is struggling. Accumulated delays and inconsistent choices risk ruining some major projects on which a lot of focus was placed to fill part of the historic gaps present in these latitudes. The two main “missions” of the Plan – health and infrastructure – are marking time. According to the latest data published on the Regis platform – dating back to December 5th -, the projects linked to the Pnrr and completed in Calabria are 3,796 out of a total of 11,180 while the amount allocated amounts to 7.7 billion. Basically, the percentage of completed works is equal to 34 percent. The “mission” – this is what the chapters of the Pnrr are called – with the most advanced roadmap is certainly the “Green Revolution and ecological transition”: here the projects completed are 1,953 out of a total of 2,770. The one called “Digitalization and innovation and competitiveness” also performed more or less well with 892 projects closed out of 3,675 total. At the other extreme are the “Inclusion and Cohesion” chapter (Calabria at the bottom of the national ranking for urban regeneration) and the “Infrastructures for sustainable mobility” chapter: so far no initiative – if we exclude the “mystery” linked to the creation of the west quay of the port of Gioia Tauro initially financed with FSC funds and then brought back into the scope of the Pnrr works – completed out of the 20 activated.
