The game of the promotion championship held on 30 March between the home team and Virtus Rosarno was degenerated in a violent brawl. At the end of the match, played at the municipal sports field, about 200 fans came to the hands in the adjacency of the facility, transforming the sports afternoon into a scene of chaos and violence.
The spirits had already overheated during the second half, when some scuffles in the stands had been contained by the presence of the carabinieri on a public order service. However, at the triple whistle the situation is quickly degenerated: while the supporters of Virtus Rosarno left the plant, a group of factorosis of the local fans reached them on the street, unleashing a physical clash.
Immediate intervention of the carabinieri, who struggled several minutes to bring the calm back, supported by further units that have reinforced. The police then started an investigation to identify their responsible for the fight and those who, during the clashes, have climbed up barriers and exceeded the security cord prepared to separate the two factions.
At the end of the investigative activities, over 20 people were identified and reported to the judicial authority for the events of that day. For them, the issue of Daspo was also proposed, the ban on access to sports events.
A serious episode, which rekindles the spotlight on the issue of safety in the stadiums and on the need to stem any form of violence linked to sports cheering.
