“Today, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I would like to express my deep commitment and firm determination to defend the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. This anniversary is not just a moment of reflection, but an opportunity to reaffirm our collective duty to guarantee all citizens, regardless of their abilities, access to fundamental rights and a dignified life.” Thus Caterina CapponiCouncilor for Social Policies of the Calabria Region.

“Our society is stronger and richer when all its members can actively participate in political, social, economic and cultural life. As councilor for social policies, I have always believed that inclusion and respect for diversity are fundamental pillars of our living together.

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted in 2006, represents a crucial step towards a future in which every person, without exception, can have their rights and aspirations recognised. There is still a long way to go, but together we can work to break down barriers and build a more equitable and inclusive society.

Today, I invite you to reflect on how each of us can contribute to this cause, so that no one is ever left behind. Together, we can make a difference.”
