The local media already speak of a “house of horrors”: it is the story that emerged in the last in Oviedo, the city of the Asturias (Spain), where a judge today validated the arrest of a man and a woman, accused of having kept in the house for three and a half years, in conditions of insalibility, their three minor children (two eight -year -old twins and their older brother, 10 years). The disputed crimes, reports the Efe agency, are those of “domestic violence”, “psychological abuse” and “abandonment of minors”. The case, which caused dismay in the area, came to light after a resident had denounced the social services the suspicion that something strange was happening in that house. Starting from that report, the local police started investigating what could happen within the house. “Initially, there was nothing that aroused particular attention,” the head of the Oviedo police, Javier Lozano, explained today at the press conference. But at least one sign of life was there: in that house it was often made home deliveries of food ordered online. Over a few days, the investigators had the situation much clearer: the couple, made up of a German man and a woman with double German and American citizenship, kept the children locked up in the middle of garbage and dirt, without ever leaving them at home and without letting them go to school. “The agents remained stucco,” explained Lozano. The commissioner added that the real reason why these people lived like this is still to be clarified: a hypothesis, supported by the fact that they constantly wore health masks, is that they had remained terrified by Covid. The three minors were entrusted to social services.
