Dispute between nurses and OSS, Mammoliti and Lo Schiavo: “The ASP of Vibo does not respect the DCA and fires workers instead of hiring them on a permanent basis”

«What is taking place at the Asp of Vibo Valentia is truly unacceptable. Perhaps only in these latitudes are there still temporary workers (who during Covid were considered “heroes”) who, despite having met the requirements for the transition to permanent contracts, are even fired, because in our opinion it is a genuine and unjustified dismissal” .

This is what the regional councilors report in a press release Raffaele Mammoliti (Democratic Party) and Antonio Lo Schiavo (Mixed Group – Freely Progressives) in relation to the failure to renew the contracts of nurses and social-health workers already employed by the ASP of Vibo Valentia.

«This discrepancy – argue the two opposition representatives at Palazzo Campanella – must be immediately remedied, and the Dca issued by the Extraordinary Commissioner for Health regarding the hospital, territorial and proximity networks with the planned openings of community hospitals should be respected , Community houses and Cot. Only through this approach will it be possible to guarantee the employment prospects of all precarious workers and the affirmation of the expected essential levels of assistance. We cannot continue to drag our feet with a bureaucratic approach referring to the current health situation. It is necessary to immediately overcome an inappropriate approach by developing a specific plan of prospective staff needs, opening the planned departments and guaranteeing beds for the entire provincial territory. A strong push from all the competent actors is necessary to avoid an unstoppable drift. For this reason we will ask for a meeting with the Extraordinary Commissioner for Health, as well as President of the Region, Roberto Occhiuto, in order to appropriately address this situation which, if not adequately corrected, risks dealing another hard blow to the inexorable dismantling of the current public health system in Vibo . We will support in all competent and designated offices – conclude Mammoliti and Lo Schiavo – the workers involved and the citizens’ right to health”.
