“It is necessary and urgent to declare a national emergency due to the level of drought in Calabria, given that local communities and businesses are now on their knees due to the prolonged lack of water”. This is what the Calabrian Democratic Party, led by Senator, is asking for Nicholas Irtoin a press release. “It is then essential – the Calabrian Democrats continue – to structurally address the problem in question, determined by climate change which, as confirmed by the current June, is hitting especially the South due to the constant lack of precipitation. Unfortunately, rationalizing water and establishing a special crisis unit are not enough, but it is necessary to accelerate specific projects and investments – the Calabrian Democrats underline – to guarantee water resources to farmers, breeders, tourist villages and activities in the hospitality sector more generally, as well as to citizens”.
«We are very worried – the Calabrian Democrats underline – about the business difficulties caused by water shortages. We are equally concerned about the economy of the region, which is largely based on the products and beauty of the land. We therefore ask that the Calabria Region – concludes the note from the Calabrian Democratic Party – make every effort to address the current critical situation and to initiate effective and lasting structural solutions”.
