Aiming at the construction of a latest generation athletics track (the only eight-lane track from Naples downwards), thinking of the important tourist flows that will derive from the national and international competitive events that will be possible to take place in Siderno, once the works are completed.
This is what was agreed during the operational meeting at the Town Hall, in the presence of the mayor Mariateresa Fragomeni, the councilor for public works Maria Teresa Floccari, the manager of Area 3 “Infrastructures and Services to the Territory”, the engineer Lorenzo Surace, the manager of the public works sector, the engineer Antonello Manno, the rup Giuseppina Giorgio, the architect designer Francesco Linarello, of the director of the works, the architect Raffaele Muzzì and of the manager of the awarded company, Giuseppe Parisi.
The new Fidal directives for athletics tracks focus on modern, certified and functional facilities, with attention to high-performance surfaces and high safety standards for national competitions. The municipal administration, deeming it appropriate to adapt to these new quality standards, jumped at the opportunity of the functional adaptation works underway at the “Filippo Raciti” stadium and, at the suggestion of the leaders of the Calabria Committee of the Athletics Federation, decided to make a new important investment, implementing the original project.
