The year that has just begun will be the year of waiting. Or rather, strategies for “old” and “new” aspirants to the most sought-after positions in politics. It is not difficult, moreover, to imagine that the game of the provincial elections (many are waiting for that reform which brings about the direct election of the president), of the regional elections (the expiry of the governor’s mandate Roberto Occhiuto is set for the end of next year) and policies which – barring surprises – are scheduled for 2027. A chess game which, especially the leaders of the centre-left, who at the moment there is an apparent calm on the right, are already facing without gradually positioning their respective pawns on the chessboard. As is well known, there are two outgoing regional councilors in the area. It’s about Antonio Lo Schiavocurrently leading the Misto group and Raffaele Mammolitian expression of the Democratic Party. But aspirants are different. Starting with those who would like to climb Palazzo Campanella once and for all, using the victory route just obtained in the Municipality of Vibo. The priority idea, at least among the ranks of the Democratic Party, which now seems to have almost monopolized that area, considering the possible provincial round, would be to propose to Antonio Lo Schiavo – who has certainly demonstrated his consensus – the presidency of Palazzo Ex Enel, to have free hands on the Regional elections. Competition for which there would be quite a few aspirants. And this was understood at the last provincial congress, for which Nicola Irto thought about relying on Enzo Insardà from which – beyond the proclamations that would like new assemblies next autumn – the question of Dem candidatures could pass.
