«I am not running for mayor of Giardini Naxos, I love that community because it has always given us help and support, but I will remain mayor of S. Teresa di Riva until 2027».
This was announced yesterday evening by the mayor, Danilo Lo Giudice, during the traditional New Year’s rally in Piazza Municipio, in S. Teresa di Riva, an event that has been held for fifteen years now to take stock of the past year and announce future programs.
«In the context of the political dialectic, Cateno De Luca asked to be able to include me among the candidates for mayor and I replied do with me what you want – admitted Lo Giudice, regional secretary of “South calls North” – but I am so attached to my community that it would be really difficult for me to replace it, not because Giardini Naxos doesn’t deserve it, on the contrary it deserves a lot because it has enormous potential and we will certainly be in a position to lead that community too, but in the “Electoral Committee Naxos-Taormina” we have men and women of great value who will brilliantly manage to lead and transform the city. We will do our part, a very delicate match will be played.”
At his side are the party leader, Cateno De Luca, and the regional deputy Giuseppe Lombardo, mayor of Roccalumera. “The decline of a mayor is never a positive thing, it is a blow to the heart of democracy – commented De Luca – when a mayor, whoever he is, is unseated due to legal and administrative quibbles, the will of the people is violated, because the vote is sacred and the people are the only master”.
