On the one hand, the appeal to the center-left to hurry up in choosing the candidate for mayor because the vote will take place in spring 2025; on the other hand, the willingness “to convincingly support a proposal for generational change”.
Gianni Speranzamayor of Lamezia for two terms from 2005 to 2015, urges the center-left to unity to bring ideas together in order to unanimously decide the name of the candidate for the seat of mayor. The former mayor intervenes in the lively political debate of recent weeks to throw water on the fire and to urge the consolidation of the coalition which is experiencing troubled days, both for the commissionership of the city section of the Democratic Party and for the alleged conflict of candidacies between the same Speranza and the former parliamentarian Doris Lo Moro.
But Speranza debunks this scenario and repeats that “generational change” is fine for him. «The centre-left in Lamezia – underlines the former mayor – is not blocked by the opposition (which does not exist) between the Hon. Doris Lo Moro and me. I expressed my availability when Lo Moro still publicly declared that she wanted to run for the Region. These two proposals are not unique, there are others.” «It would be appropriate – he observes – for them to all be discussed and seriously evaluated together, perhaps also using the results of the survey commissioned by the Democratic Party, by the coalition of parties and movements that wants to build an alternative to the current administration in office». «It would be the case – insists Speranza – that the most shared proposal was established together, in order to choose the centre-left’s candidacy for mayor of Lamezia».
