The first date circled in red on the political calendars of Messina and its province has arrived. This morning at the Regional Administrative Court of Catania the first of the appeals that hang a heavy sword of Damocles over the results of the administrative elections which, last May, elected Federico Basile mayor of Messina and Melangela Scolaro mayor of Barcelona will be discussed. There are two appeals on the Messina case (to which is added one which concerns in particular the first constituency and one the internal dispute within the centre-right between the League and the Brothers of Italy), one on the Barcelona case, and this is the one that will be discussed today.
A hearing that everyone is watching, because the subject of the dispute partly coincides: the South’s failure to collect signatures calls the North for none of the lists presented, both in Barcelona and in Messina. An affair that had also taken center stage during the electoral campaign, passed through notes from the Local Autonomy department of the Region, circulars from the Prefecture, a secret “ghost” opinion from the Region and, just two days ago, a parliamentary question presented by the national deputy Tommaso Calderone, former Forza Italia, now Vannacciano.
