Not a simple commitment, but “a solemn promise”. This is how Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro defined the “pact” stipulated with the approximately 5 thousand students, representing the schools of Reggio and its province, gathered at the “Granillo” stadium for the inauguration of the school year. An event, that of yesterday morning, entitled “Reggio looks forward”, intended to strengthen the sense of community and underline the desire of the municipal and metropolitan administrations to put “the school at the center of the administrative political action of the Municipality and the Metro city”. It was not a simple institutional ceremony, but a real celebration in which students, school managers, teachers, families and sporting and cultural entities from the provincial territory were involved.
«We wanted to organize for the first time in history here at the “Granillo” a moment of aggregation of all the representatives of the schools of Reggio and the province – Cannizzaro told journalists, before the start of the event – not only to give them a good start to the school year, but above all to make a commitment: the school will be at the center of the administrative political action of the municipality and the metropolitan city. We can also define it as a solemn moment, almost an oath towards the new generations.” And the school community was present, as did some of the most important youth sports organizations in the city who enlivened the event with their performances.
