If Navarra’s step backwards effectively closed the run-off between the former rector and Marcello Scurria in the centre-right, the one entirely within the Democratic Party for the centre-left mayoral candidate remains standing. A real “derby” is underway between two city councilors and between two Russos: Antonella and Alessandro. Their group leader, Felice Calabrò, immediately removed himself from the list of names, which never concretely contemplated other real alternatives, from the senator of Italia Viva Dafne Musolino (who however could run in “ticket” with the candidate) to the deputy provincial secretary of the Democratic Party Maria Flavia Timbro. Nor has the 5 Star Movement ever claimed a “box”, leaving it up to the Democratic Party to indicate a name, also because in the administrative mandate which is about to end early the five-star members were not even represented in the city council.
