Elections in Milazzo, the challenge of Falliti and Controcorrente: “A pact for a sustainable city”

A “pact” with citizens to develop a sustainable city that passes through three aspects: health, work and well-being. This is the objective of mayoral candidate Giuseppe Falliti, an expression of “Countercurrent” who yesterday afternoon at Palazzo D’Amico, in the first meeting after the formalization of his candidacy, outlined some points of his electoral programme. A program – he specified – which is still being defined because it aims to accept suggestions from citizens and associations in order to relaunch Milazzo and ensure that it can return to being the city of dialogue, discussion and participation. Before his speech, a brief introduction by the municipal councilor Damiano Maisano who, in criticizing the current mayor’s “lack of transparency” for not meeting his questions within the expected deadlines, said he was certain that the people of Milazzo will be able to grasp the desire for change that is felt in Sicily thanks also to the courageous action of Ismaele La Vardera committed to undermining the power of the Region. «And I am certain – concluded Maisano – that our leader will be the new president of the Region». Criticism of Midili and the Administration also from Falliti who recalled the “civic battles” against the interventions, defined as “useless and harmful” to create the car park in the Borgo, the rest area under the walls of the Castle and in Piazza Marconi. «Populist interventions that are of no use to the city» – he commented – then highlighting the other shortcomings in the social services sector, the nightlife crisis, the absence of urban planning, the high costs borne by citizens regarding public land and waste tax. Then, with the support of some slides, the programmatic intentions, divided into eight operational areas.
