“What we had planned, what we had announced, we have achieved or started. This is the case ofThe urban park of Vibo Valentiaon which in the last few days many things have been said, some incorrect, to deny which we wanted to wait to speak with the facts”. Starting from this premise theCouncilor for the Environment, Vincenzo Bruni, to communicate the publication of the tender for the redevelopment of the largest green lung of the capital city. The same project also includes the creation of a fitness area in via Veneto in Vibo Marina.
“A complete valorization project, as per the impulse of the mayor Maria Limardo, to transform, without distorting, a beautiful place in the city. At this point, we will only have to wait for the outcome of the tender to award the contract and carry out an intervention that will make the park highly attractive and a place of leisure for all the young people of the city, but not only. If we have reached this point, the credit must be ascribed to the Hon. Giuseppe Mangialavori, creator of the financing which he strongly wanted to direct towards the park because he was aware of the great interest always shown by the citizens; a loan that will cover the entire investment and which also includes the fitness area in Vibo Marina. Then a dutiful thanks, on my part, goes to the managers who started and concluded the bureaucratic process, Claudio Le Piane and Lorena Callisti, as well as naturally to the rup, the engineer Onofrio Maragò, and to the highly qualified official of the Environment service Maurizio Bardari regarding maintenance”.
The process had already been started in recent months, then slowed down due to the necessary signing of the agreement with the Calabria Region which provided the financing, and has now reached its conclusion. The overall amount of the tender is 287 thousand euros, the deadline for submitting applications expires at 9 am on 10 July. The expected time frame for the completion of the works is 180 days.
In the urban park, a beach soccer pitch will be created alongside a beach volleyball pitch, with also a shared shower; and again, street basketball, a bowling green, a botanical labyrinth and a mini golf course, as well as a long jump pool which will be particularly useful especially for school sports activities. And then the play area for the little ones will be completely redone and enlarged, near which a picnic area will be created. The fitness area will be expanded: next to the inclusive gym, a so-called “military” fitness area will be built. While in Vibo Marina a fitness area will see the light with dedicated equipment inside the Preserà pine forest. Some interventions on the safety and energy saving front have already been completed with the installation of video surveillance cameras in four sensitive points, and the installation of new street lights that produce energy with the appropriate photovoltaic panels. Finally, thanks to a memorandum of understanding stipulated in recent months with Parco delle Serre, maintenance work on fences and benches is already underway.
